Day Helesic Moves on From MovEnt
Day Helesic has announced her resignation from Movement Enterprises Society (MovEnt) effective May 25, 2010. Helesic co-founded and has been Co Artistic Producer and Choreographer of MovEnt since 2001. During her years at MovEnt, Day co-produced MovEnt productions, created 10 original choreographies and additionally performed the roles of dancer, programmer, administrator, publicist, writer and web designer. Her producing credits include 23 instalments of the MovEnt series Dances for a Small Stage in Vancouver and at Ottawa's National Arts Centre.
After nine years devoted to MovEnt, Day has decided to pursue new opportunities. Day would like to thank MovEnt, its membership, its funders and those who have enjoyed MovEnt presentations over the years for their valued support.
Biography
Day has worked for two decades in Canada’s dance community as a professional dancer, choreographer, dance teacher, stage manager, administrator and producer. She has enjoyed an extensive contemporary performance career dancing for choreographers such as Hélène Blackburn, David Pressault Danse, Dance Theatre David Earle, Lola Dance, Wen Wei Wang, Judith Garay and The Holy Body Tattoo. In addition to choreographing 10 pieces while Co Artistic Producer at MovEnt, Day has created dance works for the Ballet BC Mentorship Program, The Simon Fraser University Dance Graduates and the Arts Umbrella Junior Company. This year Day looks forward to her continued work in dance, including teaching contemporary technique at Simon Fraser University and stage managing for Wen Wei Dance.
